11-13-14 8pm...The food is over priced, everyone of the servers looked unhappy, and I could see why, the owner is yelling at them in front of the guests, glasses breaking from the manager (we are assuming shes the manager) behind the bar, she was slamming things, being very rude to our Bartender, and this manager was clearly on drugs, then we hear everyone fighting in the kitchen. We came here to relax enjoy a meal, instead we got up and left....

Don't waste your time. Our grandkids were visiting from Boston and we thought we would take them to one of our favorite local places, Nino's. Unfortunately, it was a Monday and Ninos was closed. So we thought we try the new place around the corner, Mama Nina's. The name was close but the food couldn't compare. My chicken was tough and the sauce certainly couldn't compare with Ninos. My advice, Save your money and go somewhere else.

I wish I could give a ZERO review. It had rained and the only way to the front door was through a 20 foot puddle. We braved the moat but wished we hadn't. Once inside they tried to seat us next to the service station and I asked if we could have any other table. The hostess (who we later found out is the owner) snapped at me and said "then which table do you want". Once seated we were asked for a drink order and they were out of the beer I requested so I chose a glass of wine. (Just have to mention they were also out of the soup of the day and desserts) The wine they brought out was the smallest amount I've seen and when I questioned it they said we pour six ounces. The problem is they pour it into a huge 22 ounce wine glass so it looks like next to nothing. I calculated that my sip must be equal to 1.5 ounces because 4 sips finished the glass. Weird because a 12 ounce beer lasts me an entire meal and that I drink in mouth fulls I ordered the veal piccata and asked for extra capers and was immediately informed they charge extra for that. When my kids asked for refills on the sodas we were told you only get one free refill then they charge $1 per glass after that. Now that I have been told of two up charges I started to look around and see if it was worth the extra fees. That's when we noticed that out of 4 people we had three different types of forks and knives. I found that shocking for a place that has been open for two weeks and only has about 20 tables in the place. When the food came out I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw there were only about a dozen capers total on the plate. I pushed on, and tried the veal and pretty much expected what I got, a cheap tough piece of meat that was overcooked and very chewy. My daughter who is 13 rejected the shrimp scampi because it was overloaded with lemon. My son who eats anything said he has had much better baked ziti at the local pizza shop. It came out with mostly sauce and one small square of melted cheese in the center. After seeing the other plates my wife was too scared to try her clams. Also these are supposed to be $25-$30 plates of food not $12.95 family meal deals. We informed the server we would pay for our drinks and appetizers but not the horrible food. She said she would get the owner, this is when we assumed the hostess was the owner. Nobody never spoke with us instead they left us sitting for a few minutes and then the hostess briskly passed the table and retreated into the kitchen never to be seen again. At that point we leisurely got up from the table and walked out. Nobody acknowledged us on the way out and didn't seem to care that we were leaving. This place may survive the winter tourist season because people will "try the new place" but I am willing to bet you won't see it open in 2016

Pick a seat and seat, for no one was in there. Food was terrible half the items were not available. The owner apologized but then started yelling at the server like it was their fault for poor kitchen planning. The only good thing was the drink Jake made us a great drink. Kelly the owner needs to go to Rehab.

Service was OK, chicken marsala was bland tasting and garlic and oil pasta had to much hole garlic in dish. My toasted Almond drink was not made correctly, it had no Kailua in drink. The staff was very friendly, our waiter never checked on us once order eas given.

My family and I visited Mama Ninas on Sat. the 4th. It was just after they opened. They were very busy. We were seated promptly and served quickly. The food was excellent and the staff, including the owner, was most gracious. The cuisine was excellent and very flavorful. I look forward to many evenings at this new restaurant. Good luck you guys.

I came back onto Yelp to see how others rated Mama Nina's Restaurant. I must admit I was shocked to see good reviews, especially saying they received fast service and good food. But what shocked me more, was that somehow my review wasn't showing. At the bottom of the reviews there is small print that says "1 other review that is not currently recommended" So I clicked on the link and low and behold there sits my review. I felt it my duty to re-submit the review. Let's see if Mama Nina's can get Yelp to remove this review too. Amazing...here is a copy of my last review: If I could give a zero star I would. We waited 2.5 hours for our dinner, no Cesar salad apparently they were out, they claim fresh pasta and sauces, I ordered fettuccine Alfredo and they served it with boxed linguine. Didn't receive parts of our order, mozzeralla sticks were frozen and hollow, did I mention waited 2.5 hours for our dinner. Nothing homemade as advertised, extremely disappointing. Please don't waste your money..oh yes price is very expensive for boxed frozen food. It's a shame, I was looking forward to experiencing the food the News Press reported, what a let down. Will not go back..ever. Even our waitress said please give us a month and come back..not a chance, there isn't enough time to make this place a good dining experience and they lie about their food being fresh, homemade, and authentic. Oh yes and to add a tid bit....where is the Mexican food they claim to have? Just as well it wasn't on their menu, it would be a shame to massacre the Mexican food as badly as they did their Italian.

Possibly the worst dining experience in the Ft Myers area I have ever experienced. It honestly felt like I was in a reality show. Waiter had to be brand new with zero training. He was unprofessional, blamed all issues on other things; the owner, the restaurant, the other tables, never been this busy, etc. after food was delivered by someone else, he only returned to present the check. No refil on drinks, etc. Linguini and clams sat in a sauce that a novice chef did not reduce. There was literally 16oz of liquid in the bowl. Had one bite, tasted like dishwater. Another entree at the table was Margherita Pizza. A few weeks back the Margherita pizza had fresh sliced tomato, basil, and mozzarella. When our items arrived, they forgot the pizza. Someone came over to explain that our pizza went to another table and they were making another. 5 minutes later a cheese pizza arrived. When the man came back (the one who said our pizza was given away) to see if everything was ok, we notified him that the pizza was still wrong. He replied that is how we make the Margherita pizza. The basil is in the tomato sauce. Folks..it was a cheese pizza, and this guy couldn't own up to another error. Our entire section had numerous errors, witnessed a booth get up and walk out...all while the owner and his friends sat on the patio smoking cigarettes. Fortunately there are 500 other restaurants to choose from in the area. The physical location isn't that great if you're traveling south..I'd work way harder on quality during the busy time or you won't be around much longer. I'm sure in July when there are 5 people in the place the kitchen and staff can keep up.

I was a little nervous about this restaurant having read the reviews- we had a very pleasant experience- the food was good. The waitress was attentive. Nice Italian family style restaurant. Prices were average- portions are generous

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
